Step 3: Water Removal / Water Extraction

Top-Of-The-Line Water Extraction Tools for Your Kansas City Residence

The first step to successful mitigation and drying is to extract the water causing the damage. Our technicians are thorough during extraction so that your home can be restored to its prior condition.

SERVPRO's Extraction Equipment: How Does It Work?

Our water extraction systems use three primary mechanisms to remove water:

? Heating to temperatures as high as 180 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit to kill bacteria
? Pumping extracts volumes anywhere from 5 to 12 gallons for portable extractors, and 60 to 100 gallons for truck-mounted units
? Vacuuming achieves 140 to over 198 inches of moisture lift at a time

When cleaning upholstery and carpeting, all three systems are necessary to eliminate moisture. However, only the pumping mechanism is used when the focus is on extracting water from a Kansas City residence. Portable extractors are ideal for small-scale damage and hard-to-reach areas. Truck-mounted pumps address large-scale water disasters with high efficiency but lack the finesse of its portable counterpart.

Offsite Facilities for an Even Deeper Clean

In the event of a large-scale disaster, technicians can take your contents offsite for cleaning, drying, and restoration. Our procedures include cleanup protocols for documents, electronics, upholstery, and much more. We also keep detailed electronic records of items to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in the mitigation process. Once the structure is rendered clean and safe, contents can be moved back into your home.

Move-Out / Pack-Out

If your home requires extensive restoration or cleaning, SERVPRO of Olathe / Lenexa and SERVPRO of Blue Valley can conduct an organized, efficient move-out to protect your belongings from further damage.

Emergency Water Removal

Our highly trained technicians will begin the water removal process almost immediately. Depending on the amount of water, we may use powerful submersible pumps in addition to industrial strength, wet/dry vacuums. Removing most of the water helps reduce drying time and helps prevent secondary water damage and mold and bacterial growth.
